THE STORY OF AFRICA WILD CATS

It all started in 2014 when Magda purchased a little Caracal kitten called Zimba. She has always loved animals with her whole heart and when it was made possible for her to own one of the creatures she had always loved, nothing could stop her. After little Zimba, Magda knew she had a burning passion for nature conservation which turned into successful breeding projects of Africa’s Rarest Cats. 

Baloo and Kylah (Bengal Tigers) shortly followed and made a huge impact on Magda’s life. She knew she was on the right track as these animals were earmarked for extinction and was placed on the RED LIST of THREATENED SPECIES by the International Union of the Conservation of Nature. Wild Tigers are hunted to meet the demands of the $20 Billion a year illegal wildlife market. Even more so for White Tigers, of which there are NON still alive in the wild today.

Luckily for Magda & Willie Geldenhuys, the dream has yet again come true when they were blessed with Anita, a White Tiger cub. Roughly, only 1/10,000 tigers were born with this gene. But the story didn’t stop there. The passion for these rare animals grew stronger and which became essentially, Africa Wild Cats breeding programs. Now successfully breeding with Tigers, White Tigers, Tawny Lions, White Lions, Caracals, Servals, Cape Gennets and even the cutest

Bat-eared Foxes.

At Africa Wild Cats, we realise the utmost importance of conserving wildlife and nature around us. That’s why we have to take it into our own hands and save these rare and majestic mammals for future generations to come. What better way to do so than to show our projects and animals to the public, to educate humanity on how and why we have to do it.
